New Leaders in Latin America » International Commission

Pastor Marcio Alexandre dos Santos, the executive director of the Baptist Convention of Minas Gerais, was supposed to go to our IC Latin America conference in February, but he couldn’t board the plane due to an issue with his paperwork at the airport. That’s really because God intended for him to book a special trip to Venezuela this past week to meet with Juan Lavado, our VP for Latin America. Pastor Marcio and Pastor Juan signed an agreement for their convention to equip and enable new coordinators for IC projects throughout the 853 cities in the state of Minas Gerais.

Their convention has churches in 500 of those cities, but hope to plant one in each of the remaining cities in the next 5 years with the help of IC National-to-National and International Projects. Pastor Marcio had been looking for a strong evangelism strategy for their churches to adopt, and he believes the IC Operation Andrew strategy is what he and their director of Global Missions were praying for.

Juan himself is the product of an IC project; over 15 years ago, his father accepted the Lord during a visit. That same day, he presented the gospel to his own family, including his son Juan. SInce then, Juan has been involved in ministry and has been a pastor since age 19. He’s the answer to IC’s prayer for a strong leader in Latin America. He has the passion and the vision to multiply IC coordinators in every country of Latin America until the whole continent is covered by evangelism projects every week of every month of the year.
